Breakfast Served: A Surprise Twist in the Morning Meal of Love

As a result of what I did, which to me wasn’t a big deal, but it turned out it was, I was served breakfast. Avoid making the same mistake I made. Here is my story.

I had this lady I used to crush on, but as a shy person, I couldn’t meet her to tell her how I felt. All I hoped for was the right opportunity, and indeed, it came. I was walking down the stairs in my department building on a Friday and met her. She stopped briefly and asked me if one of our lecturers was around. I said yes and quickly interrupted – Hi, I am Daniel. She smiled and said, ‘Of course, I know you.’ I was about to ask for her number when she gave me an invitation card. 🙂 Thank God it wasn’t a wedding card. It was an invitation to a concert which will be held that evening. We said bye, and she left. I looked up and said, this is a good sign because I love music.

Based on “first impression matters a lot,” I got home, selected a nice piece of clothing, and went to the location. I saw her from afar and was amazed by her stunning appearance. During the concert, we talked and exchanged numbers. It was as if the music show shouldn’t end. I went back home, all beaming with a smile. The next morning, I called her to ask if she was okay. She replied so well, and I was glad.

Fast Forward to Monday, I was so eager to go to school to see her. On getting to school, that was how one of my guys started to suspect me and said you are looking at that lady. I ignored him, and he said, “Don’t worry; you will soon get your share of breakfast.”  Two weeks later, she suddenly stopped talking to me. She neither replied to my text nor picked up my call. Physically, she also avoided me. I thought to myself, indeed, I got served breakfast. I was hurt and down, but what can I do?

About two days after her behaviour changed, she called me. When the call came in, I thought it was a dream. I picked up the call, and she said, “Do you know what you are doing is wrong?” I was confused because I didn’t do anything. So I replied I don’t understand what you mean. Did I hurt you or offend you? She said for a good two weeks, every morning when we talked, I always asked you what you would have for breakfast, but you’d always say that you would eat something– later in the day.

She then exclaimed, Daniel, good two weeks you skipped breakfast! I replied so all this was about breakfast? I thought you served me breakfast 😥. She then laughed and quickly returned to her being annoyed and further stated, “Go look up the importance of not skipping breakfast, and then let’s talk over dinner tomorrow at the mall.” I was so happy, and I picked up my phone to check it out.

Why You Should Not Skip Breakfast

I am sure you want to know why she was annoyed. Alright, let’s see three important things about not skipping breakfast.

It Reduces The Risk of Illness.

In numerous studies, breakfast has been associated with reduced “bad” LDL cholesterol levels, heart disease, and obesity. Those who eat breakfast daily have a lower risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes than those who don’t.

Eating Breakfast Helps The Brain

Breakfast has been related to excellent memory in many studies. Fasting and eating rhythms can be disrupted if you skip breakfast. When you first wake up, your blood sugar levels are usually low, making it difficult for your muscles and brain to function properly. It’s replenished with breakfast.

Eating Breakfast Promotes Healthier Eating.

If you’re trying to lose weight, skipping meals doesn’t help you get into those skinny jeans. According to studies, people who eat proper breakfast tend to lose weight on average than those who focus on dinner. Eating high-protein, high-fibre foods first thing in the morning curbs your hunger throughout the day.

People who miss morning meals are likelier to munch in the afternoon or mid-morning. This can be an issue if the snacks are heavy in fat and salt but lack fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Some individuals become drowsy without the extra energy that breakfast may provide, and they resort to high-energy foods and beverages to get them through the day.

Back to My Story

After our dinner, I told her what I found regarding the importance of having breakfast. She then held my hands. Oh my God, it was the sweetest feeling. She then told me: Daniel, you can still have breakfast even if you don’t usually have much time. It doesn’t have to be something heavy. The night before, prepare some simple and nutritious breakfast dishes. You can grab and consume a breakfast cooked ahead of time. Make it a habit to set your alarm 10 to 15 minutes earlier than normal to provide time for a home meal.

I smiled sheepishly, then replied, “Thank you. I will turn a new leaf.” She replied, “you better, or I will serve you the other breakfast.” LOL!

Hi there, Having breakfast is good. However, pay attention to what you eat!
